While all schools on this site offer financial aid of some sort, the ones below have scholarships specifically for BSN students. Many of the school websites will create lists of outside scholarships, but that is not what we are featuring on this page.

This page ranks Texas schools that have the most internal scholarships for RN to BSN students. This information might help you during the application process.

1. Texas A&M

The Texas A & M scholarship list includes 20 nursing scholarships, each with specific eligibility criteria such as GPA requirements, financial need, academic focus, or military/veteran status. Many scholarships also prioritize students with interests in areas like rural health care, pediatric nursing, global health, or community service.

The following 10 scholarships apply to undergraduate students in an RN to BSN program or broader undergraduate nursing programs:

3. University of Houston-Clear Lake

To qualify for scholarships at UHCL for the RN-BSN degree program at Pearland, applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours. Additionally, they are required to submit a one- to two-page essay (12-point font, double-spaced) explaining how the scholarship will positively impact their goal of earning a BSN degree.


4. Chamberlain University

RN Career Advancement Grant

The RN Career Advancement Grant offers a tuition savings opportunity for eligible students accepted into select nursing programs at Chamberlain University. Students can receive either 17% savings (up to $4,858) or 25% savings (up to $7,144) if they qualify under the Healthcare Education Partnership. Eligible programs include the RN to BSN Online Degree Completion Option, RN-BSN to MSN (undergraduate coursework only), and the Accelerated RN to MSN program. This grant is available to new or readmitted students, but continuing students and residents of Massachusetts, Maine, Montana, and North Dakota are not eligible.

To maintain eligibility, students must avoid sitting out more than six consecutive sessions; otherwise, reapplication will be required, and the grant may no longer apply. Additionally, students risk losing this benefit if Chamberlain lowers its standard tuition rates below the discount threshold, as they will be charged at the lower rate. This grant provides significant financial assistance for advancing nursing education.

DAISY Honoree Scholarship

The DAISY Honoree Scholarship is a tuition savings program designed for registered nurses recognized by The DAISY Foundation through awards like the DAISY Award, DAISY Team Award, DAISY Nurse Leader Award, or others. Recipients receive a 5% tuition discount, which can be combined with most other grants and scholarships offered by Chamberlain University. This scholarship is available for students enrolled in Chamberlain’s post-licensure programs.

Scholarship availability is assessed on a session-by-session basis. Applicants must provide either a copy of their DAISY Award certificate or verification from The DAISY Foundation to qualify. The application deadline is two weeks before the start of the session. This scholarship celebrates exceptional nursing achievements while providing financial support for further education.


5. Texas Tech

TTUHSC School of Nursing provides scholarships funded by generous donors to help nursing students achieve their educational goals. Scholarships are available to students enrolled or newly admitted to the nursing programs across various campuses. To be eligible, students must complete a FAFSA, an expected enrollment questionnaire, and meet the specific criteria for their chosen scholarship.

Key Guidelines:

  • One application covers the financial aid award year (Summer, Fall, Spring).
  • Scholarships are applied to further education expenses.
  • Applications are reviewed by a committee with representatives from each program.
  • Notifications are sent three months after the application period closes.

Application Timeframes:

  • Summer: Opens April 1, closes April 30.
  • Fall: Opens July 1, closes July 31.
  • Spring: Opens November 1, closes November 30.

Application Process:

  • Students from most campuses apply via the “General Scholarship Application” link.
  • Permian Basin students use the “Odessa General Scholarship Application.”

6. Prairie View A&M

The Prairie View Nurses Alumni Chapter Scholarship supports nursing students enrolled at Prairie View A&M University’s College of Nursing. Scholarships are awarded annually during the chapter’s scholarship luncheon, which raises funds for future nursing students. Applications, available electronically, must include a completed application form, supporting documents, and a checklist. The deadline for submission is December 15, 2017.

Eligible applicants must:

  • Be full-time or part-time nursing students (only one part-time scholarship is available).
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.75.
  • Be actively involved in professional nursing organizations.
  • Demonstrate leadership, community service, and a commitment to nursing.

Additional criteria include requirements for international students, first-generation students, and those pursuing mental health nursing. Applicants must also provide two letters of recommendation, a passport-size photo, and 100-word essays addressing their financial need and reasons for choosing nursing.

Selection involves a review of applications, GPA verification, and a personal interview. Scholarship recipients must attend the luncheon, sell tickets or ads for the event, and remain active in the Nurses Alumni Chapter. Scholarships are rescinded if the recipient changes their major or reduces enrollment status. Notifications are made within two days of the interview process.


7. Dallas College

The AAMAAL Nursing Scholarship, created by AAMAAL to empower women through education, provides financial support to students enrolled in the Nursing Program at Dallas College. Eligible applicants must major in Nursing, have a minimum GPA of 2.75, be accepted into the Nursing Program, and enroll in at least six credit hours during the award period. An essay is required as part of the application, and applicants must answer supplemental questions. Preference is given to first-generation college students and single parents, provided this does not conflict with Dallas College’s nondiscrimination policies.

The scholarship awards $650 for the fall semester, with renewal for the spring semester contingent upon maintaining eligibility requirements. Over two semesters, the total scholarship amount is $1,300. Open to all students, including international and non-resident applicants, the award is tied to the School of Health Sciences at Dallas College and applies across all campuses. The application deadline is August 15, 2024.


8. Texas State

The AORN Undergraduate Scholarship provides up to $1,000 annually to assist undergraduate registered nursing students in completing their nursing programs. Eligible applicants must be enrolled full-time or part-time, have completed 12 nursing semester hours, maintain a 3.0 GPA in nursing courses, and submit an official transcript. Additional requirements include attending one chapter meeting, writing an essay on perioperative nursing, submitting a bio with career goals, and providing photo identification. Applications are reviewed by the Board of Directors, with decisions communicated to applicants. Recipients are encouraged to attend a chapter meeting within a year of receiving the award.


9. University of Houston-Victoria

UHV offers a wide range of scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students based on academic performance, financial need, residency, and other criteria. General eligibility often includes maintaining a minimum GPA (2.0–3.5, depending on the scholarship) and being enrolled in a certain number of credit hours. Some scholarships prioritize specific fields of study, counties of residence, or community involvement, while others cater to first-generation students, veterans, or students with demonstrated financial need.

Deadlines for most scholarships are December 1, 2025. Students can check the status of their applications and receive notifications through their campus email.

10. Midwestern State

The Wilson School of Nursing offers scholarships to undergraduate and graduate nursing students for the fall and spring semesters of the upcoming academic year. Applications are accepted annually from January 1 to March 31, with awards determined by the Student Affairs Committee in April. Recipients are notified by the Financial Aid office.

Additional scholarship funds may become available after the main application period. Notices for these supplemental opportunities are posted on the WSON Current Students webpage and through faculty on the D2L platform.

To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be admitted to the Wilson School of Nursing and maintain good academic standing.
  • Be enrolled in NURS 3212/3211 or higher at the time of application.
  • Submit the WSON Scholarship Application by the specified deadline.

This scholarship program supports nursing students’ academic advancement and success.


11. Schreiner University

The Rotary Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and current college or vocational school students who are Kerr County residents. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, demonstrate involvement in civic, church, or community services, and exemplify character, integrity, responsibility, and leadership. Full-time enrollment at an accredited college or vocational school is required, and funds can be used for tuition, boarding, or related expenses in any field of study.

Applications must include:

  • A completed scholarship application.
  • An official transcript.
  • A 500-word essay on a community service project reflecting the “Service Above Self” attitude.
  • One letter of recommendation from a teacher or acquaintance.

12. The University of Texas at Arlington

Its not clear how to obtain them, based on their site, but UTA scholarships are available for declared nursing majors who have completed their first semester (12 credit hours) of upper-division nursing coursework. Academic scholarships require a minimum 3.0 GPA, while some need-based scholarships are available for students with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or 2.75. Other factors such as financial need, volunteer activities, and leadership experience may also be considered.
